Weekly Shot is Back and I’m Giving out Invites

Over two years ago I shut down one of my favorite projects, Weekly Shot.  I had a feeling I might bring it back sometime, though, since there was such a great community of people who gave the site life.  (It also had some interesting philosophies that I think set it apart from most of the other weekly photo challenges.)

At the time I wasn’t able to maintain Weekly Shot and provide the oversight that it deserved.  Now I’m able to focus more on projects like these, so I’m excited to work and play in this area again.  I’ve always seen these types of communities as experiments (and I mean that in the best possible sense).  It’s fun to try out new rules and ideas and see what resonates with people.  Sometimes we come up with good ideas and sometimes… not so much.

It’s all part of an ongoing process.  That’s why the tag line of my personal blog here is “Create. Learn. Repeat.”  That basically encapsulates the way I like to interact with the world.

A big thanks goes out to Tom Foster for giving me the opportunity to create Weekly Shot in the first place.  Without his initial support the site never would have been built and without his generosity it never would have come back to life as it has now.

Get Yourself an Invite

Since I relaunched the site on Thu, Jun 24, 2010, there has been a lot of growing interest.  The site is invite only, but I have opened up a way for people to request an invite from me personally.  If you would like to give the site a try just head over to Weekly Shot and read the instructions in the sidebar on the right.

Update: If you are one of the original members of the site, then your old login/password should still work.

Update 2: I’m working on a way for old members to change their username, if they want. (Several people have asked for this, since they don’t use their same handles anymore.)
